Give clean water to those who need it the most
We all know that frequent hand washing and social distancing are simple ways to protect ourselves and our communities, and reduce the global spread of #Coronavirus.
In order to wash hands effectively, a person requires at least 4 gallons of water every day. But, what happens when a person does not have regular access to clean water? Globally, 1.1 billion people suffer from water scarcity and are increasingly vulnerable to this pandemic, which ultimately affects the worldwide community. In Mexico, some families live on less than 10 gallons of water per day for all of their needs, meaning that they do not have sufficient water for basic needs like dishwashing and flushing toilets, much less for frequent handwashing.
Isla Urbana provides families with the ability to access high quality water by harvesting the rain. For families in urban areas, this can provide anywhere from 6-9 months of clean water. Now, more than ever, it is essential to provide clean and abundant water sources to alleviate the water burden, allowing people to stay home and stay safe during the COVID-19 crisis.
With your support, we can continue these efforts and together help reduce the growing risks associated to COVID-19 for communities in Mexico this coming rainy season.
