SUMMER PROGRAM
Take a look and consider joining us on this unique 1 week adventure, where you will learn more about the impact of our work and get more familiar with the Mexican culture.
DURING THE TRIP, YOU WILL:
• Get your hands dirty!
Work alongside our staff and help to install a rainwater harvesting system for a community that you fundraised for!
• Participate in Cultural Activities
A visit to the pyramids of Teotihuacan and other major attractions. You will also visit the local market and stay within walking distance of the Zocalo, the largest square in Latin America, where you will be able to explore during your free time.
•Take a deeper look into Isla Urbana
You will be coming with us on field visits where you will meet people who have benefited from our work and also future beneficiaries. You will also meet some community organizers and see the situation of water scarcity in Mexico.
• Complete an Isla Urbana Workshop
Our staff will provide you a one-day workshop where you will learn more about building your leadership skills, social entrepreneurship, community building, social media, design, volunteerism and the technical side of installing a rainwater harvesting system.

Are you a High School or University student interested in the world water crisis? Do you aspire to become a water activist and an agent of change? Join us for Isla Urbana’s Virtual Water Activist Program!
Isla Urbana’s Water Activist Program started in 2016 and has continued to empower high school and university students from all
over the U.S. in learning more about our work and Mexico’s distinctive role with the world water crisis. Our aim is to grow awareness while helping to create agents of change! We make this available virtually while adding unique online interactive experiences that are sure to make a lasting impact.
“I was born in Bogotá, Colombia and I moved to the US in 2007. I have always enjoyed helping others and finding new ways to be creative, some of my hobbies are photography, travelling, and playing billards. I found out about Isla Urbana in 2015 when my high school club, Junior World Affairs Council, needed to find a non-profit to support, and we chose Isla Urbana. Since then, I have tried to stay involved by attending the summer program in Mexico, where I got to see the water crisis problem first-hand, and build rain water harvesting systems for schools. Currently, I am leading a collaboration between Isla Urbana and Partners of the Americas to expand the summer program, so high schoolers from all of Latin America can experiencie what Isla Urbana is about and show them how they can get involved”.
